Trapt's breakout single, "Headstrong" is number one this week. It has a 4-1 jump in its 10th week and it seems to be a song destined to be #1 one of this days. After doing some research on Trapt, I found out that they are a local band on this chart. They were formed in Los Gatos, CA (a suburb of San Jose) and they are the first "local" band to hit #1 on the chart since Smash Mouth's "All Star" was #1 exactly four years ago. Of course, this is Trapt's first #1 single and a follow-up to this single should be hitting the charts soon.
Sugar Ray's "Mr. Bartender (It's So Easy)" was also battling for chart supremecy this week as the song makes a 8-2 jump this week. Sugar Ray is vying for its 5th number one and 3rd consecutive number one. Audioslave's "Like A Stone" drops a spot this week but it still putting together an impressive chart run. "Like A Stone" stays in the top ten for its 13th consecutive week. Powerman 5000, whose has never had a top ten hit on any Billboard chart, has a top ten hit on this chart now. "Free" jumps 11-4 this week and it's putting itself a contender for reach #1 in the future. After having the biggest jump in Chart Named Goo history, Michelle Branch actually drops from #1 this week. "Are You Happy Now?" is at #5 this week. AFI makes its first top ten entry this week with "Girl's Not Grey" which makes a 14-10 jump.
Matchbox 20's third single, "Feel" makes a 132 spot jump this week as it makes greatest gainer honors on exactly the same week that their first single, "Disease" falls off the chart. Other big jumps this week comes from Metallica, David Sneddon, Radiohead, Lucy Woodward and Jason Mraz.
There are four new songs that went "kajagoogoo" this week which means that the song reached its 30th week on the chart. These songs all debuted on November 30, 2002 and are all entering their 30th chart week: Avril Lavigne's "I'm With You," Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me A River," Jimmy Eat World's "A Praise Chorus," and Shakira's "The One." This week will be the last week for "I'm With You" and "Cry Me A River" because of the newly reinstated rule that once a song is past 30 weeks and below the #100 spot, it will automitically be taken off the chart. The rule was put into place once the chart expanded to 200 positions. |

Dannii Minogue - - Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling
|
|
Dannii Minogue's latest is "Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling." The song samples the 1985 Madonna hit, "Into The Groove." This song is catchy and worth a listen.

OK Go - - Don't Ask Me
|
| "Don't Ask Me" is OK Go's follow-up to "Get Over It." For those of you who really liked "Get Over It," this single has some of the same elements that the previous single had. While "Get Over It" was a song that built momentum until the end, "Don't Ask Me" is a song that starts upbeat and changes pace throughout the song. I think that OK Go is the modern-day J. Geils Band and OK Go should be one of the bands that offer catchy rock songs for years to come. |

Brian McKnight feat. Nelly - - All Night Long
|
| Brian McKnight, with a guest spot from Nelly, is back into the world of the R&B world. Brian McKnight's best forté is smooth love ballads but this upbeat song is still great. Brian McKnight never disappoints and he is one of the best R&B singers out there. As far as Nelly goes, his contribution is short with only a 20 seconds of his rap lyrics. |
