Chartifacts on the 07/05/2003 Chart
| AFI's "Girl's Not Grey" makes a 4-1 jump this week to give the previously underground rock group their first number one on Chart Named Goo. It took twelve weeks for the track to reach number one. Audioslave's "Like A Stone" is in the top ten for the 15th consecutive week and marks its 5th chart week at #2. In case you're wondering, the record for the most chart weeks at #2 is Mandy Moore's "In My Pocket" which spent nine weeks at #2 after a 3-week run at #1. Backstreet Boys' "Larger Than Life" holds the record for most chart weeks at #2 without hitting #1 with six weeks. Sugar Ray's "Mr. Bartender (It's So Easy)" drops 2 spots to #1 while Girls Aloud jumps 5 spots to #4 with "No Good Advice." Delta Goodrem re-enters the top 5 with "Born To Try/Lost Without You." There is no top ten entries this week as Good Charlotte and Linkin Park stays put at #8 and #10, respectively. |

Electric Six - - Dance Commander
Electric Six gets their 2nd Hot Shot Debut honor. "Dance Commander" is the 3rd track from their album, Fire. Their first single, "Danger! High Voltage," hit number one in March 2003 and their second single, "Gay Bar," is currently rising on the chart at #76 this week. "Dance Commander" offers the same pure enjoyment of "Danger! High Voltage." The song concept of "Dance Commander" is unbelievably humorous. If you liked "Danger! High Voltage," you'll definetly like "Dance Commander."

Foo Fighters - - Have It All
| "Have It All" is another awesome song from the dependable Foo Fighters. Chart Named Goo is picking up on this song early and it's currently listed as the 4th single of One By One. Most areas are getting the 3rd single right now which is "Low," currently at #54 this week. "Have It All" is like a mixture of the One By One sound and their early work. This song has a lot more melody their their previous singles from their current album. |

Girls Aloud - - Life Got Cold
| "Let Got Cold" is the 3rd single from Girls Aloud. Their previous two singles already are top ten hits and their latter track, "No Good Advice" has awesome potential to be a number one hit in a week or so. So, can Girls Aloud deliver another blockbuster of a song? The answer of yes. While the first two singles were upbeat dance tracks, "Life Got Cold" is a ballad with mild accoustic guitar dance beats scattered throughout the song. In my opinion, Girls Aloud is one of the best girl pop groups to come out in years and all the material that I've heard from them so far has been great. Artists that come from music reality television shows tend to sound calculated and average but Girls Aloud is the exception. |

Radiohead - - Go To Sleep
| The song catalog of Radiohead's work tends to be artsy. "Go To Sleep" is no exception. This song is a excellent choice to be the 2nd single from their current album, Hail To The Thief. |

Liz Phair - - Why Can't I
| To be pefectly honest, I haven't heard any Liz Phair previously to hearing this song. I know that she is a singer-songwriter from the mid-90's that attempting to make a comeback in 2003 but I missed out on her early work. So, how is the first impression? Liz Phair has a sound similiar to Sheryl Crow and I like the flow of the song. The song is good lyrically and it's already sounding like a top 40 hit. |

Alien Ant Farm - - These Days
| Alien Ant Farm have the rare opportunity to become the first group/artist ever to have their first four singles go to number one on the chart. After hearing their new single, "These Days," I would say that's a huge longshot but there's a saying that you should never say never. The most positive thing about this track is that Alien Ant Farm is back and healthy after their near-fatal bus crash in the spring of 2002 putting their career on brief hiatus. The bus driver was killed and some of the group members suffered bad injuries including the spinal cord damage of lead singer Dryden Mitchell. Alien Ant Farm had one of the best starts ever in Chart Named Goo history. Will Alien Ant Farm continue their momentum of their first album? That is the question that remains out there to be answered. |

Manmade God - - Safe Passage |
| Manmade God is an up-and-coming rock group. The song has come to my attention after hearing my local rock radio station, KSJO, played the track a lot in promotion for the free concert that they have done in my hometown. "Safe Passage" is an interesting listen and it might put Manmade God on the rock map across the United States. |
